Root Reserves Ascertain Postharvest Sensitivity to Water Deficit of Nectarine Trees

نویسندگان

چکیده

This work studied the sensitivity of postharvest period early maturing nectarine trees (Prunus persica L. Batsch, cv. Flariba) to water stresses. Along with a well-irrigated treatment (T-0), three deficit treatments (by withholding irrigation) were applied: T-1: (June–July), T-2: late (August–September), and T-3: whole (June–September). Soil content (?v) midday stem potential (?stem) measured throughout study. During winter dormancy, L-arginine, starch, phosphorus in roots analyzed. Yield, fruit quality, metabolites determined at harvest. ?stem reached ?1.7 ?2.3 MPa end periods, respectively. Total yield number fruits per tree significantly reduced all respect T-0, while no significant differences observed physicochemical quality. The T-2 showed highest percentage cracked fruits. Significantly, lower values L-arginine trees, they similar T-1 trees. Although stage is key for application RDI strategies, our results indicated that was also sensitive severe drought, as accumulation root reserves (L-arginine phosphorus) reduced, which limited yield.

Regulation of Root Growth Responses to Water Deficit

The growth and function of roots are essential for crop productivity under waterlimiting conditions, but direct improvement of roots by plant breeding has been slow. One difficulty is the observation and quantitative measurement of root systems under conditions that are relevant to field environments. Another challenge is the identification of and selection for specific loci that could improve ...

Response of different species of Brassica to water deficit

Development of drought-tolerant cultivars is hampered by a lack of effective selectioncriteria. In this research, response of 36 genotypes of rapeseed from seven species of Brassicaincluding B. napus, B. rapa, B. juncea, B. carinata, B. oleracea, B. nigra and B. fruticulosa wasassessed under three moisture levels (no stress, mild stress and intense stress) in the field during2011-2012. Five dro...

Responses to Water Deficit'

Water deficit elicits a complex of responses beginning with stress perception, which initiates a signal transduction pathway(s) and is manifested in changes at the cellular, physiological, and developmental levels. The set of responses observed depends upon severity and duration of the stress, plant genotype, developmental stage, and environmental factors providing the stress. Cellular water de...

Postharvest Quality Monitoring and Variance Analysis of Peach and Nectarine Cold Chain with Multi-Sensors Technology

Fresh peaches and nectarines are very popular for their high nutritional and therapeutic value. Unfortunately, they are prone to rapid deterioration after harvest, especially if the cold chain is not well maintained. The objective of this work is to study the environmental fluctuation and the quality change of fresh peaches and nectarines in cold chain. The temperature, relative humidity, and C...

Genetic Control of Plasticity in Root Morphology and Anatomy of Rice in Response to Water Deficit.

Elucidating the genetic control of rooting behavior under water-deficit stress is essential to breed climate-robust rice (Oryza sativa) cultivars. Using a diverse panel of 274 indica genotypes grown under control and water-deficit conditions during vegetative growth, we phenotyped 35 traits, mostly related to root morphology and anatomy, involving 45,000 root-scanning images and nearly 25,000 c...
